In collaboration with Peel X.

The Brief

To produce a collaborative narrative-driven animation for the UIST Unearthed augmented reality (AR) app, exploring the local historical legend of Hugh MacDonald of Dun an Sticir in the Outer Hebrides. The project involved working closely with primary school pupils from Sgoil Uibhist A Tuath, who contributed character designs, scenery, storyboards, sound effects, and bilingual narration in English and Gaelic.

My Role

Lead 2D Animator and Creative Collaborator.

Pipeline & Technical Stack

Managed visual asset integration, sequence assembly, and animation workflows using Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects to translate children's hand-drawn storyboards into a polished, award-shortlisted narrative piece.

The Outcome

Successfully delivered a rich, community-driven animated film that was shortlisted in the FilmG awards. The project seamlessly integrated local youth participation with advanced AR app storytelling, enhancing cultural engagement and digital heritage preservation in the region.
